On the third day of Christmas....

My true love gave to me........

3 mists/inks/paints

a misting.  :)

I have used three different colors of mist  in three different ways on my layout.
Christmas is summer time in New Zealand so a beach photo was appropriate for the season.  :)

In this photo I have used Sand Glimmer Mist and sprayed it on the wood tiles and on the lace behind it.

I have used Sunshine Glimmer Mist on the doily flower and Tide Glimmer Mist on the small center flower.

I used Tide here as well on the paper doily.  I sprayed it quite liberal and dried it with my heat gun and achieved the water color like effect.

I sprayed my doily on white paper and then cut out that to use on my layout too.

So there are my three mists and even three different ways to use them.  Hope you will play along with us on the 12 Days of Christmas challenge at Frosted Designs.  Prizes to be won and fun to be had!  Make sure you link up your project so I can check it out.

Color Challenge...

Hi Everyone!  This week's Fabulous Friday challenge at Frosted Designs is a color challenge.  Use the following picture to guide your project.

Isn't it beautiful???  Just love those fall colors and love they can be used in a variety of ways.  I have taken those colors and made a layout of my youngest son Aden.  I always tell my boys.....all three of them....."you are my favorite".  They have known that for years.  I love how they know they are all my "favorite" but will use that line to try and win something to their advantage.  "Remember Mom.....I AM your favorite."  :)

Hope you will play along with us this week!  Thanks to everyone who stopped by my blog with the hop and all your lovely comments.  Welcome to my new followers!  Thanks for being here.

Don't forget to link up your project to the Frosted Designs Blog for the chance to win a great prize and so I can check them out.  Can't wait to see what you come up with!

Frosted Designs...Matchbox Tutorial

Hello Friends!  Lydia here with a gift box tutorial for you today.  Whether we are ready or not, the holiday season is just around the corner.  I love to find useful or pretty containers to give gifts in. For this project I transformed a match box into a gift box.  The box is small enough to be perfect for a gift card or something small like a necklace.

We use matches to light our fire place so when the box was empty, I added it to my stash of "will use for something" as any scrapbooker does.  I loved the way this project turned out so much that I made sure to buy a couple boxes of matches the next time I was at the supermarket.  :)

Supplies you will need include:

*match box
*paper
*double sided tape
*glue dots
*lace, ribbon, or trim
*flowers or other embellishments
*alphabet letters

I'm not very precise in measuring.  I usually just eyeball it.  The size of your paper will depend on the size of your matchbox.  I did measure for this tutorial and my box was approximately 4.5" x 8.5".  This includes some overlap of the paper.

Begin by wrapping your box with double sided tape.  It doesn't have to be completely covered, just enough that the paper won't come up anywhere.

I have only wrapped the outside of the box since the inside part is white.  Wrap the box and use another piece of the tape to secure the edge of the paper.

When the box is wrapped, you will have a seam.  Put a strip of the tape on it and attach lace or ribbon to it.

Then you are ready for embellishments.  I have chosen to use paper flowers and resin frames and attached them with Glue Dots.  You could use as much or as little of whatever you wanted.

Inside the frame, I have added a second scrap of patterned paper so it would stand out from the paper on the box.  I have used small alphabet stickers to put the recipients name on the box.  You could add any saying or phrase instead.

Here are three different ones I have made.  Now they are ready to have a small gift slipped inside.

I hope you have enjoyed my tutorial and will give it a go.  I'd love to see your creations.  You can link it up to the comments in this post or to my personal blog.  Thanks for stopping by today!

Paints/Mist/Inks...Frosted Designs

Time for another Fabulous Friday challenge at Frosted Designs.  This week the challenge is "Paints/mists/inks" on your project any way you like.  I took a white metal tin and painted it teal and then added a coat of glimmer glam to it.

I cut the hearts out of corrugated cardboard and painted them.  Some lace, and a few other embellishments completes the project.

Hope you'll join us at Frosted Designs for this week's challenge.  Make sure you link up your project for a chance to win a great prize and so I can check them out!

Master of the Wild...

"Wild" is this week's Fabulous Friday challenge over at Frosted Designs.  Anything wild goes.  I just love this photo of my son Aron.  He has always love "survival" stuff  like outdoor camping items.  He had just gotten a new flint and knife and put it to use to make this fire.  He was quite proud that with just a few flicks of the knife on the flint he has sparks and flames.  He later told me he was doing the Haka which is a traditional ancestral war cry, dance, or challenge from the Maori people of New Zealand.  I just love the intensity on his face.

Hope you will play along with us at Frosted Designs this week for the "Wild" challenge.  Make sure you link up your projects for a chance to win a prize and so I can check them out.

Frosted Designs...Embossing

I'm not sure how it has happened but this is the last Friday in September!!!!!  Where has this month gone????  Last Friday or not its time for another Fabulous Friday challenge at Frosted Designs.  "Embossing" is the challenge this time around.

As I thought about this challenge, I thought not everyone has a machine that will emboss or access to one.  I used purchased pre-embossed shapes for my layout.  I first painted them with watered down white paint and then dry brushed them with distress ink.

This is my niece, my older brother's daughter and my nephew, my younger brother's son.  I so enjoyed the time we had with them in Las Vegas just a few months ago.  Asher sure did cling to Maisie.  And I'm pretty sure she loved every minute of it.  ;)

Make sure you take a look on the Frosted Designs blog at the other designer's projects.  Lots of fabulous inspiration there.  Also, be sure to link up your project for a chance to win a great prize and so I can check it out.

Frosted Designs...

Time for another Fabulous Friday Challenge over at Frosted Designs.  This week's challenge is "journal cards".  I used six different cards on my layout.

I took this picture of my parents while we were visiting in the States.  Not a day goes by that I don't think of them and miss them huge.

Frosted Designs...

Last Friday of August....how did we get to September already?!  Frosted Designs Fabulous Friday challenge this week is "Office Supplies".  I know its back to school for my friends in the States so this challenge is a perfect time to repurpose those items for some crafty fun.

I found this binder in my mom's garage sale pile and knew it would be perfect for a project.  Aden had been asking me to make a book with his "model" poses and this binder was just right.  Aden is such a character.  This book will be an ongoing project for awhile.  As long as he is giving me model poses, I'll be taking photos. :)

I used patterned paper, twine, doily, tags, buttons, and a wooden boy for the front cover.

On the in covers, I inked it with distress ink and added some embellishments.  On the back cover, someone has done a math problem.  Just made me smile to see it there.

A few of the pages.....

Aden's personality just cracks me up.  This book is going to be a fun one now and to look back on.  Hope he never loses this personality.  :)

Many more pages to come.  :)

Hope you will join us at Frosted Designs for this week's challenge "Office Supplies".  Make sure you link up your projects to the blog for the chance to win a great prize and so I can check them out.

Frosted Designs...

The challenge at Frosted Designs this week is "twine/ribbon".  I just love twine so this challege was right up my alley.  I have created a keepsakes for my boys.  The tin originally held Prima flowers.  I spray painted it white and then added twine around the lid.

I've used Trendy Twine for this project.  I just love their twine!!  Such lovely colours.  I used three different colours here, one to represent each of my boys.

Inside the tin, are wee glass bottles.  They first held glitter and flocking but after my boys played with them they magically were empty!  :)  Perfect for a "note in bottle" project.

The notes are tied up with the three colours of twine and each boy has a set of notes.  The top is embellished with flowers and a pearl bling.

It was fun to look around and see what I could repurpose and also to use twine in a different way.  Hope you will join us at Frosted Designs for the twine/ribbon challenge.  Make sure you upload your project to the blog for a chance to win a prize and so I can check them out.  Can't wait to see how you use twine!!

Frosted Designs...

Frosted Designs Fabulous Friday challenge this week is "Fabric".   Anything goes with this challenge.  My best friend Lynne and I bought this fabric and have made a number of things with it.  It is the coolest!!  Just love the pattern and the colours.  The frame originally was a mirror for the bathroom.  But with three boys in the house, it was bound to get broken....before it got hung!!  :)  Perfect for this project once it was spray painted black.

A bit of cotton trim and buttons and its ready for photos.  Hope you will join us for the fabric challenge.  Make sure you upload your project to the Frosted Designs blog for the chance to win an awesome prize and so I can check them out.

Frosted Designs...

Frosted Designs Fabulous Friday challenge is a colour challenge this week.  Here are the colours what you do with them is up to you!

I decided to take these colours and make a layout with them.  I came across this photo of Ian in the ones my Dad took on their Grandparent/Grandkid camping trip.  It cracks me up every time I look at it!!

So I decided that needed to be my title.  "this....cracks me up!"

Ian has just turned 11 so I used items that had the number 11 on them for this page.

Love this paper range from Crate Paper.

Hope you will join the colour challenge with us at Frosted Designs.  Make sure you link up your project for a chance to win a prize and so I can check them out!
