Frosted Designs...Hexagons

Wow.....what a couple weeks!  We are in the middle of moving houses...ours is up for sale now...and my world has been boxes, boys home from school on holiday, and messes.  Its about over, well kind of as I will now have a mess in the new house.  :)  Its time again for another Fabulous Friday Challenge over at Frosted Designs.  This week's challenge is "hexagons".

My best friend Lynne made this really awesome frame that helped inspire my page.  Its currently at our local scrap shop.  The frame has cool shells, netting, string....you name it.  I love it.

I was really pleased with the way this layout turned out.  I wanted this page to be full of texture.  I used molding paste, mist, shells, mesh, trim, dew drops.

This is the old pier down at our favourite beach, St. Clair Beach.  I've taken heaps of photos of this spot and just love this one of Ian.  The saying "Near the sea we forget to count days" just seemed to fit.

I hope you'll take the "Hexagon" challenge.  Make sure you link up your project to the blog for the chance to win a prize and so I can check them out!

Happy Crafting!!  :)

Scrapbookers Anonymous...

The girl's over at Scrapbookers Anonymous are having a little fun for the last mid month challenge.  Since this blog is all about scrapping your stash, this challenge is to show us your stash.  Post some pictures of your stash and link it up to the SA blog.  There are prizes to be won!  Scrappy goodness to be added to your stash.  :)

I am constantly reorganizing and weeding through my stash.  I enjoy that just about as much as scrapping itself.  As I type this, I am surrounded by boxes as we are shifting houses Friday.  So much of my stash is packed up and will be rearranged once again in our new home.  I did take a few photos before it got packed.

These glass jars are my favourite things in my scrap room.  They hold my favourite products and things I use on almost every project.  Lace, baker's twine, and teal/white flowers.  I absolutely love them and would love to have another set.  :)

This shelf holds my plastic containers with all sorts of "stuff" in them.  Stickers, papers, chipboard...you name it...its in there.  I am trying to find a better way to organize it as I find I'm not in these containers much.  They just take up space.

This box holds my beloved Glimmer mist.  Funny thing is when my best friend in the States started collecting Glimmer mist I thought how would I ever use it.  Well......I do on pretty much every page and really want more for my collection.  I use browns the most and can't seem to get enough of them.

This box holds my paints and as you can see, I'm in need of another box!!  I like to store them upside down because I can see the colours and then they are easy to get out of the bottle.  My boys also use my paints for their craft projects.

When my parents visited in May, my Dad built these shelves for my scrappy things.  They have been really handy to have and I manage to stay somewhat organized with them.  I love having not only a place for everything but something my Dad has made for me.  Now to paint them.....

Just another view of the shelves.  My madeover teal suitcases hold rick rack and glitter glues.  Actually, I had forgotten about the glitter glue.  Guess what else the kids are going to get to play with???  And something else will find a home in there.

And a front on view.  The big boxes on the bottom shelves hold thickers, punches, and random things.  I did a paper collage on them but now I'm thinking brown paper on them and maybe masking with my glimmer mist.  Not sure but think they need a makeover.  :)  The two "tool" boxes hold brads.  Oh my....I sure don't use brads like I used to.  I think they are going to find a new home too.  And I might give the boxes to my son for his ever growing collection of rocks and shells.  Hmmm....I think I have more cleaning out to do.  Makes room for new, right???  :)

This white shelve holds many of my flowers.  I don't use them much at all so since this photo I've given away quite a few and have thoughts to use this shelf to display wee projects or some of my glass bottle collection with teal accents in them.  Are you seeing a trend??  Teal and white....my favourite colour combo.  Or maybe this shelf will become a shadowbox project.  Hmmm.....the possibilities!

What I have been very fortunate with is always having a space to scrapbook.  Scrapbooking is not only enjoyable for me but my stress release.  Thankfully our new home has a space waiting for me.  I can't wait to get it all set up.  Might be the first room together.  Well, probably not as I'll have fun rearranging and trying out new places for my things.  And maybe those shelves will get painted.  :)

Ok, now its your turn.  Take some pictures of your stash and show us at Scrapbookers Anonymous.  I'd love to see how you organize all your stash and maybe get some new ideas for my own.  Plus, who doesn't want to win more scrappy goodness!!  Can't wait to see!

Happy Stashing!!  :)

Frosted Designs...

Friday sure does seem to roll around quick anymore!  Today marks the first day off of the two week school holidays for my boys.  Aden said today "Its the first day of a two week weekend".  That pretty much sums it up.  :)

But since its Friday, there is a new challenge at Frosted Designs.  The Fabulous Friday challenge is "Banners".  Just use banners on any project!  I've seen banners as a trend for awhile now and love the look of the stacked banners so wanted to do that for this layout.

I took this photo of Ian fishing while we were away on holiday.  I just love the way he looks like a shadow against the blue green of the river.  Side note....he is usually my impatient one and he stuck it out the longest, even though there were NO fish biting!  :)

I couldn't come up with a title that I really cared for and had already added these wee words on my page so just left it at that.

For my banners, I used Maya Road chipboard banners painted white and then glimmer misted with three different colours.  Three mostly because I didn't care for the first two but I love the way it turned out.  When the banners were dry I painted over them with clear crackle paint.  Love the way they turned out.  I added a paper pennant banner on the top and "strung" them together with floss and a pearl trim.

I hope you will play along with us at Frosted Designs on our "Banner" challenge.  Make sure you upload your project to the FD blog for the chance to win a prize and so I can check them out.

Happy Crafting!!  :)

Scrapbookers Anonymous...

This post for Scrapbookers Anonymous carries a bit of sadness to it.  This will be the final month of challenges for SA.  Theresa and Lea, the creators and organizers, have decided its time to quit the challenges.  Although it would be amazing it was because they used up all their stash....and had to buy new....its because life gets hectic and some things have to be let go.  I would like to wish Theresa and Lea all the best and thank you for such wonderful, inspiring challenges.  I know you have pushed me in my creativity and definately used up some of my stash.   Make sure you watch the blog for a mid month challenge you won't want to miss!!

The challenge for April is "Maps and Brads".  The map can be patterned paper, a real map, or something you've printed off.  And the more brads the merrier!  There is a special prize for the person who uses the most brads!!  Now, I've known about this challenge for quite some time and its taken me months to get something put together.  I do have a heap of nice map projects pinned on Pinterest now though but I ended up with a simple layout.  :)

My original thought had been to take a real map and do something with it.  Only problem became that I didn't have a map!  :)  So patterned paper had to do.  I used some wee white brads to "hold" my twine in place.

Hope you will join us at Scrapbookers Anonymous for the "Maps and Brads" challenge.  Make sure you upload your project so I can check it out and for the chance to win a prize.  Also, come back mid month to find out the final challenge of Scrapbookers Anonymous.

Happy Crafting!!  :)
