Now if you've joined us from Sarah's blog then you are on the right track. If you are just joining us, hop on back to Frosted Designs to start from the beginning.
We recently moved houses and moving for me means cleaning out. My boys and my best friend's kids benefitted from this move as I did a big clean out of my scrap space and gave them plenty of crafting supplies. It doesn't hurt that I'm currently in the States stocking up on scrappy goodies and needed the space. :) Shhhh.....
I love my new scrap space. I was going to have the biggest room in the house and in the end I took the smallest bedroom. And I love it!! It feels nice and cozy and when the sun is shining in, its really warm too, an essential for NZ and scrappy fingers.
My dad made these book shelves for me on his visit last year to New Zealand. He made me 5 large ones and a half size one. This room is so tiny that I only have two of the big ones and the small one. They are my constant source of rearranging. I love to find ways to better suit my needs, better places for things, and ways to make it appealing to the eye.
I love containers. Boxes, bins, baskets.....any and all. But I also like to be able to see what I have. First tip I have for you....I really believe that seeing what you have is essential for using what you have. My favourite "go to" items are stored in these glass jars. Lace, baker's twine, and my white and teal flowers. These items are used on most all of my layouts. I've collected more twine and spools on my trip, so I'm thinking another jar will be in order when I get home. I love the way these jars can be functional and beautiful at the same time.
My glimmer mists are another of my favourites and something I use on every page. I remember when my best friend Kim first bought a couple mists. I looked at them and thought "I'll never use those". Well......now I can't get enough of them. These are my most often used mists and I have more in a box just waiting for me to make a home for them. I found this crate while junk shopping with my best friend Lynne and was hoping it was perfect for my mists. And it was! Now we are going to find some old pallets and make our own boxes. I'm thinking I need at least two more. And my collection is only growing more. Love my mists! Second tip I have for you.....Put what you use the most at your finger tips. This box sits right on my table right where I can grab the colour I need with no searching or digging around.
This small shelf (between the fire place chimney and the window) is an evolving one. I have had a few different things on it and I'm sure its not done yet. The white file drawer (right hand side of picture) is a school fair find. It was grey before I spray painted it white. It holds my doilies, photos, wee alphabets, wee word sticker sheets, and glue dots. I love having it at my finger tips. Once again, right where I can grab what I need.
My table is usually fairly neat. Yes, it does become a bit more cluttered when I'm in the middle of a project. I do clean up after each project though, even if I might use some of the same stuff for the next one. A clean table not only gives me plenty of space, it helps keep my mind clutter free. I find that helps me be more creative.
This is my blue glass collection. The mason jars are functional as well holding my buttons and game piece letters. Just another part of my room that makes me smile.
My space may be small but I've always got room for one more. :)
